![]() We arrived at the private ranch, which is called Bowen Ranch, and met Mike who owns the property. Once we started following them, we quickly realized the volunteer directions were MUCH better! You still have to drive down an unpaved road at the end to get to the ranch, but it is flat and smooth and as long as you go slow any type of car could make it no problem. ![]() After driving down this road for about 3 mins, we knew we had to tap out and instead follow the volunteer directions. ![]() Google tried to take us up an insanely steep unpaved road with a ton of potholes that I think was probably for jeep offroading only. Whatever you do, DO NOT FOLLOW GOOGLE MAPS!!! Even though we had the directions from the volunteer website, we started off by following Google Maps which turned out to be an awful idea. To get to the trailhead, you will want to follow the directions listed at Deep Creek Volunteers. You can almost think of this as an admission fee for the hot springs, because otherwise they are completely free! Compared to other more “established” hot springs, $5/person is a very good deal. The trailhead for the 4 mile hike to the hot springs is located on a private ranch, so in order to access it you will have to pay $5/person if you are using the area for the day or $10/person if you want to camp overnight. Although we did meet some people at the hot springs who were currently one month into their Pacific Crest hike, we instead opted to take the 4 mile round trip trail to the hot springs – a lot easier and quicker! If you haven’t heard of it, the Pacific Crest Trail is a long distance hiking trail that stretches over 2,500 miles and passes through all of California, Oregon, and Washington. ![]() The closest ones to the Los Angeles area, the Deep Creek Hot Springs is a natural hot springs that is accessible with a little bit of driving and hiking! Located near Hesperia, which is about a 90 min drive from Los Angeles, these hot springs are situated along the Pacific Crest Trail in the San Bernardino National Forest. ![]()
